Growing up in Waltham, MA Matt Drew was a four year, three sport varsity athlete in high school playing football, hockey and baseball. Junior year of high school he was named captain of his baseball team and added football and hockey his senior year. Coach Matt was All-League Football and twice All-League Baseball.
Matt played 4 years of baseball at Curry College while working towards his degree in Business Management. As a pitcher and first baseman, he was named captain his senior year, was awarded second team All-League and Pitcher of the Year. Coach Matt was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee all four years.
After graduation, Matt coached hockey and baseball at the Dexter School in Brookline, MA prior to moving to California. While in California, he received his Maters in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University-Irvine and began working at Cate School. Coach Matt is a member of the Athletic team at Cate and coaches football and baseball, including specializing in pitching.
Matt’s coaching philosophy revolves around teaching young student-athletes to excel in their respective sport by mastering fundamentals, working hard, showing leadership and sportsmanship.
When he is not on the field, Matt spends his free time with his family and dog, Kit. He enjoys playing hockey, snowboarding and watching sports.
